The 2026 Nationwide Guide Awards Longlist
The judges for the class this yr are Matt Bell, the creator of “Appleseed”; Caro De Robertis (Chair), the creator of “Cantoras” and “The Palace of Eros”; Danielle King, the final supervisor of Left Financial institution Books, in St. Louis, Missouri; Akhil Sharma, the creator of “Household Life”; and Diane Wilson, the creator of “The Seed Keeper.”
In March, The New Yorker published an excerpt from “Harmful, Soiled, Violent, and Younger,” Zayd Ayers Dohrn’s memoir of rising up within the Climate Underground. “I’ve spent years making an attempt to untangle what I love about my mom and father—their sacrifice and dedication, their radical solidarity with the Black freedom motion—from the violence and factionalism that usually undermined their trigger,” Dohrn writes of his mother and father, Bernardine Dohrn and Invoice Ayers, who helped discovered the militant left-wing group through the Vietnam Conflict. In “Seasons of Fury,” which The New Yorker excerpted in August, Rozina Ali considers a special political period, inspecting the post-9/11 enlargement of the safety state by the tales of 4 Muslim American households. 9 of the ten authors on the longlist are being honored by the Nationwide Guide Awards for the primary time; one nominee, Camonghne Felix, was long-listed for the Nationwide Guide Award for Poetry in 2019.
