“Horse Tune of a Nightmare,” by Pleasure Harjo

It’s raining, raining, raining.
The sky is falling, falling, falling.
I by no means, by no means, by no means.
Noticed this could occur, occur, occur.
As in any flooding, flooding, flooding.
The earth is breaking, breaking, breaking.
All of the sorrow, sorrow, sorrow, kneeling.
Contained in the loss and anger kindling.
Set forth the burning, burning, burning.
On this earthly star shining, shining, shining.
Then we misplaced our footing, footing, footing.
Once more the falling, falling, falling.
Right into a nightmare working, working, working.
On black horses driving, driving, driving.
By darkness within the raining, raining, raining.
Then there we have been standing, standing, standing.
On the grassy hump of dawning, dawning, dawning.
Over the mountains wet, wet, wet.

The clouds leaned right down to sing.

That is drawn from “Cloud Runner.”
